Marathon Finisher

15" x 22" watercolor on panel. Two years ago, I trained for and ran my first full marathon. Like my marathon, my art career doesn't happen overnight. It happens after years of planning, careful training, and early mornings when I would rather be in bed. Sometimes I was fast and the weather was perfect and sunny. Other times it was cold and dark with only a headlamp or occasional streetlight to keep me on the road. I finished that run in the rain after 26.2 miles, slower than I might like, but fast enough to finish. My art career is my next big run. I’m ready to run this road with joy, awe, and gratefulness.
